Shaquille O' Neal Omitted From Team




USA Basketball deferred to the NBA to make the majority of the Dream Team's selections. However, in acknowledgment of the previous amateur system, the selection committee decided to include one college player. They looked at a few options that included Alonzo Mourning, Jimmy Jackson, Harold Milner, Christian Laettner, and Shaquille O' Neal. Laettner eventually won out as his Duke team won two NCAA championships and he was the Naismith College player of the year in 1992.
